Job description - Junior Accounts Assistant

In this Finance Assistant role, you will play a vital part in supporting the organisation's financial operations.

You will work alongside the finance manager to ensure the accurate recording of financial transactions, maintenance of records and assist in providing essential information to various stakeholders.

Managing accounts payable, expenses accounts receivable and daily bank reconciliations.

You will provide strong relationships with your internal and external stakeholders through excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and ensure the finance inbox is monitored and all queries are responded to.

As Finance Assistant you will play a key role in the delivery of an efficient year end and audit process and will effectively maintain an internal control environment.

Key responsibilities - Junior Accounts Assistant

In this Finance Assistant opportunity in London, your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting the Finance Manager with the day to day processing of transactions on Xero accounting system
  • Processing purchase invoices (matching to POs, getting invoices approved, coding invoices, allocating costs, raising recharges etc)
  • Processing sales invoices (setting up new customers, applying correct pricing, applying correct bank account details, applying correct VAT treatment etc)
  • Assisting the Finance Manager with the AP ledger, supplier statement reconciliations, and weekly payment run
  • Assisting the Finance Manager with the AR ledger and credit control
  • Assisting the Finance Manager with month-end duties
  • Resolving general finance and business queries

Job requirements - Junior Accounts Assistant

* Please be aware this role is full-time in the office

  • A 2.1 from university in Accounting or Finance (preferably)
  • At least 1 year's experience in an Accounts Assistant/Finance Assistant position or similar
  • Exceptional organisational abilities
  • Top verbal and written communications skills
  • Knowledge of Excel
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team
  • Happy to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of Xero accounting system (desirable but not necessary)
  • Experience working with Business Central would be an advantage
