Corporate Pricing Analyst

Job Introduction

Do you have a passion for pricing and data analysis? We are seeking a Corporate Pricing Analyst to join our dynamic team at the forefront of managing financial risk for MPS worldwide.

In 2023 the Insurance and Partnerships team was formed in order to best support our B2B corporate discretionary members and insurance clients. The team consists of dedicated and expert pricing, underwriting, business development, insurance operations and product colleagues.

As a Corporate Pricing Analyst, you will play a crucial role in pricing our corporate products, shaping the success and performance of our Insurance & Partnerships department. We will also be looking for you to contribute to rating model enhancements and bring fresh ideas to grow our corporate book, utilising your SQL and Excel knowledge to query data and drive efficiencies.

  • At MPS, we are committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workforce, and therefore welcome applications from individuals seeking flexible working arrangements. For us to maintain effective collaboration and engagement we would like the Corporate Pricing Analyst to be able to frequent the Leeds office.

Role Responsibility

  • Deliver pricing for all corporate members/clients of MPS
  • Extract data on clients, membership and claims as necessary from MPS systems as appropriate to deliver pricing recommendations
  • Maintain and develop pricing tools and ensure Pricing Methodology and Procedures document is continually reviewed and updated
  • Work with the underwriting colleagues to produce pricing models that take into account changes in member/client risk
  • Collaborate with finance teams to understand costs to serve members including central administration costs
  • Liaise with actuarial reserving teams to understand how reserving work could be re-used in pricing to efficiently deliver likely member/client costs in pricing analyses
  • Support the maintenance and development of MPS's data warehouse and subsidiary analytical systems, determining the analytical requirements for enhancements to the business intelligence suite and making sure that data quality is of the highest standard

The Ideal Candidate

We are in search of a candidate with a solid background in insurance pricing, who demonstrates a strong aptitude for data analytics and holds a solid foundation in mathematics or a related numerical field, acquired through either relevant work experience or degree.

Proficiency in handling and manipulating data, Excel, and SQL is essential for this role, as is the ability to prioritise tasks efficiently to meet deadlines.

London Market experience would be advantageous, but we are particularly interested in individuals with an innovative and curious mindset, who are eager to shape the future of corporate pricing at MPS.

Other desired qualities include adept project management abilities, and a knack for problem-solving, alongside a practical understanding of insurance. The ideal candidate should be adept in coaching, presentation, communication, and listening to effectively facilitate internal stakeholder management and relationship-building.

Package Description

  • Up to 15% discretionary annual bonus

  • 11% pension contribution (3% from you, 8% from us optional additional matched 3% contributions, e.g. 6% from you, 11% from us)

About the Company

The Medical Protection Society Ltd (MPS) is the world's leading protection organisation for Doctors, Dentists and healthcare professionals. We protect and support the professional interests of almost 300,000 members around the world.

We are a not-for-profit organisation, meaning member's subscriptions are either invested into bettering the organisation, colleagues and products, or kept safe should members require support for complaints or claims arising from professional practice.

Our philosophy is to support safe practice in medicine and dentistry by helping to avert problems in the first place. We also actively campaign for regulatory and legal reforms that benefit members and the wider healthcare professions.

To do this, we need colleagues who are trusted and supported to deliver their best work, whether that be through leadership development, fully funded training courses or peer-to-peer support. We want colleagues to feel empowered to deliver positive change, display ambition to push themselves and be determined when faced with a challenge, whilst ensuring members best interests are at the core.
