Tree Inspector
- Hourly Rate: £15 per hour, progressing to £16 per hour
- Location: Matlock to Glenfield, Leicestershire
- Job Type: Hybrid, Full-time
We are seeking a dedicated Tree Inspector to join our clients team in Leicestershire. This role involves inspecting, assessing, and reporting on the condition of roadside and other trees across the county's highway network and County Council properties. The ideal candidate will be adept at navigating difficult terrain using their own vehicle and possess a strong technical background in forestry and arboriculture.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Conduct regular inspections of trees adjacent to highways and on other sites within the County to identify and report defects that could pose hazards.
- Ascertain ownership of any trees with defects and prepare detailed reports and plans for issuing notices to remedy these defects.
- Maintain and update tree inspection records and computerised tree inventories.
- Carry out specific inspections to monitor the progression of Ash die-back in Leicestershire and make management recommendations based on findings.
- Issue work instructions to contractors for necessary work and supervise the completion of such work.
- Stay updated with the latest forestry and arboricultural practices, including the identification of tree species and associated diseases.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Ability to use own car for site inspections and navigate difficult terrain.
- Proficient in maintaining and extracting information from computer databases.
- Strong report writing skills and ability to prepare detailed plans.
- Knowledge of tree and shrub species, as well as associated diseases and disorders.
- Valid driving licence is essential.
- Flexibility to work outside normal working hours, including evenings, early mornings, weekends, and bank holidays as required.
