We are seeking a Laboratory Manager for a leading chemical distributor to lead and oversee the daily operations of their dynamic application laboratories in Huddersfield.

What you'll be doing:

  • Effectively managing staff, planning laboratory activities, and contributing to cross-departmental objectives.
  • Recruit, train, and position staff while supporting STEM initiatives with schools, colleges, and prospective students.
  • Manage customer projects, including product development, application testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate in NPD meetings to ensure timely updates and progress.
  • Develop and enforce lab procedures, ensuring compliance with health & safety regulations, COSHH, and company policies.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and maintain excellent housekeeping standards.
  • Coordinate and enforce data management systems, policies, and procedures to ensure efficient and compliant laboratory operations.
  • Manage departmental budgets and produce monthly reports, contributing to strategic planning and resource allocation.

Your background:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or a related science
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Proven background in cosmetic and/or homecare formulation development
  • Extensive knowledge of GMP/GLP standards
  • Experience in a supervisory or team leadership role
  • Excellent attention to detail, self-motivated, and driven
  • Ideally, you will be familiar with relevant cosmetic/detergent certification requirements
