Hays are currently working with an Academy in Swindon to recruit to a non-teaching House Manager. This Academy aims for its students to stand out as model citizens and believe everyone has the ability to learn and achieve great things by working hard, doing their best and persevering.

Your new role

As a House Manager you will work closely with, and under the direction of, the Head of House, dealing with the day-to-day behaviour, well-being, and pastoral development of students within their House as well as supporting the work of the whole pastoral team and contributing to the smooth running of the behaviour policy.

  • Challenging and motivating students, promoting and reinforcing self-esteem and positive behaviour
  • Providing information, advice and support to enable students to make positive choices about their wellbeing, behaviour, attendance and social interaction
  • Dealing with day-to-day student issues that arise within the House
  • Acting as a guide and mentor to students

What you'll need to succeed

  • Graduate with relevant experience of working with students aged 11-16 within a secondary school or pastoral setting
  • A commitment to the safety and welfare of young people and a knowledge and understanding of the responsibilities that adults have working with them is essential

Desirable: Experience in working with students with social and emotional difficulties and/or ADHD or learning difficulties

  • Strong communication and organisational skills. Adherence to professional standards and commitment to student development.
