This growing educational organisation is currently seeking a Group Financial Accountant to join their team on a permanent basis. This newly created role will be instrumental in helping the organisation to future-proof itself as it looks to expand and take on new entities over time. You'll be instrumental in preparing financial statements, monitoring budgets, enhancing financial processes, managing payroll, and contributing to exciting projects.

The key duties of this Group Financial Accountant are as follows:

  • Craft financial statements and audit working papers. Liaise with auditors to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Take the lead in budget monitoring and setting for various entities within the group, analysing trends and supporting budget holders to better focus their resources.
  • Develop a standardised management accounting process across the group and play a critical role in the optimisation of the new finance system.
  • Work closely with the Finance Officer to ensure that all payrolls are processed in a timely and accurate fashion.
  • Ensure that the organisation stay up to date with accounting and legislation changes, updating processes and communicating such changes to all internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develop high-level cashflow forecasts and invest surplus funds to maximise returns

This is a fantastic opportunity for a highly experienced financial accounting or financial control professional who is excited at the prospect of leading an ambitious finance function to success in new areas, whilst paving the way for their own progression path in the future. Please note that this role will be predominantly office based in South London, although there will be some opportunity to work from home.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Achieved their full accountancy qualification or be qualified by experience.
  • Ideally, a background working in a school or charitable setting, but this is by no means essential.
  • Strong financial accounting expertise and experience liaising with auditors.
  • Experience of producing accounts within a group structure (desirable).
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and a proactive mindset.
