A lovely primary school based in Swindon, SN2, is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic teaching assistant to join them on a full time, temporary basis. Supporting in the Key stage 1 classroom, you will be offering general classroom support as well as 1:1 work.

The head teacher is looking for a responsible, caring individual who can offer excellent support to all students, one other key quality you must have is a strong understanding of phonics. Some students have a special educational need, so it is important you have experience and knowledge of needs including learning and social, emotional mental health needs.

Your main duties:

  • Assist the lead teacher in implementing educational programs and activities for students
  • Provide one-on-one support to students with special needs, including those with autism
  • Collaborate with the lead teacher to create and modify lesson plans to meet individual student needs
  • Help students develop social skills and promote positive behaviour in the classroom
  • Assist with classroom management and maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment
  • Provide tutoring and mentoring to students who require additional academic support
  • Support the lead teacher in assessing student progress and documenting observations

This will be a full time position, working Monday to Friday 8:30am - 3:30pm, term time only.
