Teaching Assistant

Responsible to: Principal

Contract: PermanentSalary: £22,000

Hours: Monday-Friday - 8.30am-4.30pm (Term-time)

Location: Lutterworth.

This is an exciting opportunity for motivated individuals to take on the role of teaching assistant and to work closely with pupils with autism, speech and language, social communication, and behavioural difficulties to help them to engage with their learning.

The post holders will be part of a team who will continue to influence and contribute to the Pastoral Team at the school.
Job Purpose:To provide a complementary service for teachers and pastoral staff, addressing the needs of children who need help to overcome barriers to learning both inside and outside the school in order to achieve their full potential.
Main duties and responsibilities:

  • To take responsibility for creating a learning culture and experience for pupils who find it a challenge to engage with learning.
  • To work closely with the SENCo and Curriculum Deputy on targeting students and agreeing a programme of support and intervention, off and onsite.
  • To deliver alternative provision curriculum elements as well as core English and Maths to allow pupils to fully engage in their education.
  • To ensure all records of intervention and support are up-to-date on Arbor and on CPOMS.
  • To have a visible presence and promote good behaviour and a positive working ethos around the school, and assist in the follow-up of disciplinary issues in line with the school behaviour policy.
  • To have full knowledge and appreciation of the range of extended services that could be drawn upon to provide extra support for pupils.
  • To build positive working relationships with families.
  • To network with schools and providers and to share best practice.

  • Daily contact with colleagues
  • Weekly staff meetings
  • Monthly team meeting with SENCo and Curriculum Deputy

Other:

  • To play a full part in the life of the school community, to support its distinctive mission and ethos and to encourage staff and pupils to follow this example.
  • To continue with one's own personal and professional learning in relevant areas relating to the efficient and effective execution of responsibilities.
  • To engage actively in the Performance Review and Management process.
  • To be courteous to pupils, colleagues and provide a welcoming environment to visitors and telephone callers.
  • To undertake any reasonable task at the request of the Principal.

Essential Criteria:

  • GCSE or equivalent qualifications in English and Maths.
  • Teaching assistant qualification.
  • Experience of working as a teaching assistant in a similar educational setting.
  • Strong experience in supporting children with Autism, speech and language, social communication, and behavioural difficulties.
  • Demonstrable experience of effectively impacting on academic performance and personal development.
  • Ability to implement strategies /mechanisms which positively impact on pupils' progress and wellbeing.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
