Oldham Council are seeking an experienced HR Consultant to oversee the operational delivery of HR services within a dynamic and diverse organisation. The ideal candidate will bring a wealth of HR management experience and a proven track record of success, with extensive knowledge of HR principles, UK employment legislation, and exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Lead and mentor a team of HR Advisors, ensuring the delivery of a comprehensive HR service that includes recruitment & selection, onboarding, performance management, learning & development, reward, and payroll.
  • Develop and implement HR processes that align with the organisation's overall objectives.
  • Promote and support a culture that values diversity and inclusion, ensuring HR practices promote equal opportunities and respect for all staff.
  • Work collaboratively across various functions to enhance productivity and foster a culture of inclusivity, diversity, and mutual respect.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on all HR disciplines, ensuring best practices are applied effectively.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Senior generalist experience in leading a wide range of HR functions.
  • Expertise in people management and a deep understanding of HR best practices and their practical application.
  • Experience in leading people development teams, including talent management and leadership development.
  • Experience working at a senior level within a large and complex HR function.
  • Sound understanding of cross-functional collaboration, design, and delivery.
  • Strong knowledge of UK employment legislation.
