British Sign Language (BSL) Tutor

Randstad Tuition Services are seeking an experienced and consistent British Sign Language (BSL) Tutor to provide BSL KS1/2 tuition and support for a primary-aged child with specific needs in Nottingham.

About the Child:

The child you will be supporting has the following needs, applicants must have proven experience supporting children with at least two of the following:

  • Down Syndrome
  • Hypermobility
  • Hypotonia
  • Conductive Deafness
  • Speech Impairment
  • PEG Tube Feeding

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one BSL tuition and teaching to a child with complex needs.
  • Through BSL, deliver primary level education (Numeracy and Literacy)
  • Adapt communication methods to support the child's individual learning and developmental requirements.
  • Work closely with the child's caregivers and other professionals to create a supportive learning environment.
  • Use your expertise to enhance the child's ability to communicate through BSL, supporting language development and social interaction.
  • Support the child's sensory and physical needs in collaboration with other caregivers or specialists.

**Requirements:

  • BSL qualifications: Applicants must hold recognized qualifications in British Sign Language (minimum Level 3 BSL).
  • Experience: Proven experience working with children, particularly those with Down Syndrome and other complex medical needs, including Speech Impairment and Conductive Deafness.
  • Experience supporting children with mobility and feeding needs, such as PEG Tube feeding, is highly desirable but not essential.
  • Patience, empathy, and a commitment to making a meaningful impact in the child's communication and development.
  • Knowledge of working with children who have sensory, physical, and communication challenges.

**Location & Hours:

  • Location: Nottingham
  • Hours: 15 hours per week
  • 3 hours per day, 5 days per week OR 5 hours per day, 3 days per week

Pay is negotiable.
