Full Time, permanent position

A rewarding opportunity is now available here at phs Group to become our Head of HR for Hygiene Operations. You'll be joining in a key leadership role within the leading hygiene services provider in the UK, where you will provide a full Business Partnering service to the Hygiene Operations Director and their team. This is an excellent role for a strategic and commercially minded HR Leader who has the energy, drive and passion to increase engagement, productivity, and support in the delivery of commercial success.

About the role

Our Head of HR for Hygiene Operations will provide proactive, professional, and straightforward advice and support to the Hygiene Operations Management team, Operations Centre Managers and Service Managers. A dynamic HR approach is needed to drive up engagement and productivity, to increase gender equality across senior and front-line roles, and to have a positive impact on retention. As a member of the HR Leadership team, you will contribute proactively to the design and delivery of an effective People Plan and therefore the commercial success of phs. This role is very hands on, although you'll be based from home you will be required to be in Caerphilly one day per period and in depots 2-3 days a week.

Key Accountabilities

  • Drive the required increase in retention through understanding and acting on data
  • Improving management capability, working very closely with the Resourcing team, and being visible and involved in the business.
  • Champion improved engagement to increase retention, improve customer service and drive-up productivity.
  • Provide proactive and practical advice and support to key Directors and Managers and their divisions/businesses.
  • Champion effective organisation development and design,
  • Identification and resolution of risks and gaps, and delivery of any necessary restructuring or right-sizing.
  • Manage identification of talent development, talent retention and succession planning.
  • Identify training needs then work closely with the Head of Learning and Development to ensure effective management, sales and service training and development are in place
  • Champion and bring to life the phs values and behaviors.
  • Work closely with the Resourcing team to attract, recruit and onboard high-quality individuals with the right behaviors and skills
  • Champion employee engagement and drive high response rates to the annual employee engagement survey.
  • Review outputs and work with the Hygiene Operations team to produce and deliver an effective action plan.
  • Work closely with the Head of Internal Communications to ensure there is a relevant
  • Ensure effective pay and benefits arrangements are always in place.
  • Ensure robust and effective market reviews take place and lead salary review planning and implementation.
  • Lead manage and deliver a customer focused and efficient HR administration process for Hygiene Operations.
  • Delivery of activities to budget/forecast.

  • Proven track record as an HR leader in a fast-moving blue collar service operations business.
  • Proven track record increasing retention and driving up engagement and productivity.
  • Strong communicator able to work with Comms teams and own delivery of the comms plan.
  • Able to identify design and deliver commercially focused HR solutions to business opportunities and issues.
  • Proven experience of contributing to the delivery of excellent customer service.
  • Able to improve management capability through TNA, coaching and hands on support.
  • Able to deliver effective performance management and succession planning programmes in operations focused organisations.
  • Energy, drive and passion.
  • This is a hands-on role in a hands-on business. Candidates must be "good operators" who can think strategically and commercially.
