Technology Director

Salary: £90,000 - £100,000

We are looking for a Technology Director to provide sound technical leadership in all aspects of our business. Reporting directly to the MD, the TD will be responsible for leading and delivering the company's strategic technology direction and directly manage the company's development team. They will also communicate and work with employees, stakeholders and customers to ensure our company's technologies are used appropriately and always to the best practise standards. Creativity, strategic thinking and strong business acumen are essential in this role. We expect you to be well-versed in current technological trends and familiar with a variety of business concepts.

This role will be based at our head office just outside of Newcastle on the Cobalt Business Park.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, project manage and deliver the company's technical strategy to ensure alignment with its business goals.
  • Discover, learn, lead and implement new technologies that yield a competitive advantage.
  • Work towards the companies 'Automation-First' approach utilising AI to help all departments use technology profitably.
  • Own and lead on system infrastructure to ensure functionality and efficiency.
  • Build quality assurance and data protection processes.
  • Monitor KPIs and IT budgets to assess technological performance.
  • Use stakeholders' feedback to inform necessary improvements and adjustments to technology.
  • Communicate technology strategy to senior management.
  • Manage and lead the Development Team with the Development Director reporting directly to you.

Requirements and skills

  • Proven experience as a Technology Director or CTO or similar leadership role.
  • Knowledge of technological trends to build strategy.
  • Practical knowledge of Cloud Server structures and AWS services management such as EC2, RDS, S3 Lambda and ElastiCache.
  • Knowledge of PHP, MySQL, Laravel Framework and Redis.
  • Ability to work toward an agile project management framework.
  • Understanding of budgets and business-planning.
  • Ability to conduct technological analysis and research.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Leadership and organizational abilities.
  • Strategic thinking & problem-solving aptitude.
  • Ability to communicate effectively to senior management and stakeholders.
  • AWS certification is essential to this role
