About the Role

Base Location: Flexible Scotland | We're proud to offer a Flexible First approach to work, and this role is no exception. We will, however, need your base 'home' location to be one of our SSEN offices or depots around Scotland (Perth, Aberdeen or Inverness)

Salary: £55,200 - £83,000 + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

In early 2024, SSEN Transmission acknowledged the challenges of housing the workers required to deliver our Pathway to 2030 programme in rural northern Scotland and committed to developing a comprehensive strategy for worker accommodation and housing legacy. We are seeking an experienced Housing Strategy Manager to join our team and oversee the implementation and future direction of the strategy. You will manage a team of Housing Project Management Specialists, engage with national stakeholders, and ensure alignment of housing strategies with our broader organisational goals and commitments.

  • Strategic Leadership: Provide strategic oversight and direction on housing and worker accommodation for the business, ensuring cohesive and effective implementation of our housing strategy.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Constructively engage with national stakeholders, including government bodies, industry associations, and housing advocacy groups to advance the organisation's housing and accommodation agenda. Identify and develop strategic partnerships with key organisations and stakeholders to enhance our capacity to deliver on housing and accommodation commitments.
  • Team Management: Lead, mentor, and manage a team of Housing Project Management Specialists, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages innovation and excellence.
  • Risk Management: Oversee the identification and mitigation of strategic risks related to housing and accommodation, ensuring the organisation's projects and initiatives are resilient and sustainable.
  • Reporting and Accountability: Ensure transparent and effective reporting on the progress and outcomes of housing strategies both internally and externally to relevant stakeholders.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

  • Relevant Experience: Experience in a leadership role within the housing sector, urban planning, real estate development, or a related field, with a proven track record of strategic planning and execution.
  • Background: A degree in Urban Planning, Public Policy, Business Administration or a related field.
  • Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a high-performing team.
  • Stakeholder Engagement Skills: Extensive experience in stakeholder engagement and partnership development at a national level.
  • Strategic Thinking: Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage diverse audiences, along with strategic and analytical thinking abilities.
