Contract Type: Temporary until Feb 2025 (possible extension)
Rate per hour: £19-£20ph

Home based 4 days a week- Leicester office 1 day a week

About the Role

We are recruiting for a Temporary Project Manager to assist with the development and implementation of the Departmental Medium Term Financial Plan projects and programmes. This role involves managing projects from feasibility studies and outline business cases through to completion, including benefits realisation and post-project evaluation. You will also be responsible for other projects and programmes as required by the Team Manager.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure services are delivered for the benefit of the people of Leicestershire.
  • Develop effective partnerships and working relationships with statutory, voluntary, private agencies, and communities.
  • Deliver activities in the most efficient and effective manner possible.
  • Provide technical advice to Members, partners, and stakeholders on programmes and projects, ensuring appropriate communication and dialogue, including writing reports.
  • Support the performance management of services and teams through contributing to the departmental business planning process.
  • Deputise for Senior Managers where appropriate.
  • Assist (and lead as required) in the project management, development, and delivery of improvement programmes and projects, including project governance and reporting, consultations, financial and monitoring agreements.
  • Assist the Senior Project Manager in managing project teams to ensure the provision of high-quality services in accordance with policies, Government, and legislative requirements.
  • Represent the Department at meetings, exhibitions, conferences, and seminars.
  • Participate in recruitment, induction, training, and development programmes.
  • Support the performance management of services and individuals through the departmental business planning process.
  • Maintain effective partnerships and working relationships with statutory, voluntary, private agencies, and communities.
  • Ensure staff time is recorded to appropriate projects for accurate cost calculation.
  • Protect and manage information securely, reporting breaches or suspected breaches in line with policies.

Special Factors

  • The role may involve work outside of normal working hours.
  • The role may require work at different locations than the designated base.
  • Attendance at training courses, conferences, seminars, or other meetings as required.
  • Expenses will be paid in accordance with Local Conditions of Service.

Prince 2 or APM qualification would be an advantage.
