Purchasing and Logistics Supervisor – Weymouth

An ever-growing and leading manufacturer in Weymouth are seeking a Purchasing and Logistics Supervisor to join them. You will play a pivotal role in the day to day running of the logistics department ensuring all functions are executed effectively and efficiently, including the implementation of Quality Manuals to ISO standard.

  • You will require a driving license to attend site.

Line management & supervision

  • Supervision of the Logistics & Warehouse departments, providing guidance, support and development
  • Monitor the Logistics & Warehouse departments' productivity and provide constructive feedback and coaching
  • Provide cover across the logistics department during periods of sickness and absence
  • Logistics & warehouse department management
  • Oversee the day-to-day smooth running of the logistics & warehouse functions, and make decision within the responsibilities of the role
  • Maintain records for all systems, utilising bespoke IT programmes (Intact IQ) where needed to include billing of all sales invoices in an accurate and timely manner
  • Ensure transport requirements and procedures are adhered to
  • Flexibility to accommodate unavoidable delays regarding delivery timings and collections

Assist with stock management

  • Assist with forecasting stock requirements
  • Place orders with suppliers, maintaining existing good relationships. Raise purchase orders and book-in stock on its arrival.
  • Advise Purchasing & Logistics Manager of products in high demand and any potential stock shortages. Allocate stock in current high demand in the most appropriate way to ensure optimum customer satisfaction
  • Together with the Warehouse department, lead and control regular & annual stock takes. Investigate any stock shortages, raising stock adjustments where applicable
  • Product quality & performance
  • Implement, develop and update the company's Quality Manual, recording Declaration of Performance (DOPs), and internal quality checks for our products
  • Raise Non-Conformance reports and follow up to a satisfactory conclusion

Health & Safety and equipment maintenance

  • Act as main point of contact with external Health & Safety provider
  • Maintain and file accident reports, referring to external Health and Safety provider for guidance on preventative steps where appropriate
  • Ensure plant and machinery safety checks are conducted, reporting any issues and arranging maintenance as and when necessary
  • Monitor and maintain housekeeping in the department, identify, eliminate, isolate and minimise workplace hazards
  • Ensure compliance of company policy regarding Health & Safety, and training across the team
