We are recruiting an Accounts Assistant to join a household name based in Somerset. The organisation has a global footprint and can offer a range of opportunities. The ideal candidate will be adept at handling various accounting and administrative tasks to ensure the efficient operation of our financial processes. This role is perfect for someone with a robust finance background, exceptional organisational skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with different teams.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Manage the sales ledger, including weekly review of outstanding debtors and chasing related invoices.
  • Handle accounting tasks, including processing payments and reconciling bank transactions.
  • Communicate with stakeholders regarding payments and reporting, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Reconcile online finance transactions and provide cover for accounts payable during leave periods.
  • Oversee contracts and maintain authorisation and approval limits.
  • Manage standing orders and direct debits, and participate in shared finance tasks.
  • Assist with year-end processes and training sessions for non-finance staff.
  • Create and update balance sheet reconciliations and assist with the roll-out of the accounting system to non-finance users.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping and reconciliation to bank statements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook.
  • An accounting qualification or relevant experience in a finance role.
  • Strong numerical skills with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and respond promptly.
