Grounds and Streets Operative

We are currently on the lookout for a Grounds and Streets Operative to join our team in Rotherham.
The Role:
- Perform street cleaning activities, including litter picking, sweeping, and emptying bins.
- Maintain public parks, gardens, and open spaces by mowing lawns, trimming hedges, and planting flowers.
- Assist in the maintenance and repair of public amenities, such as benches, playgrounds, and pathways.
- Operate and maintain groundskeeping equipment and machinery safely and efficiently.
- Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with health and safety regulations.
- Report any hazards, damage, or issues encountered during work to the supervisor.
- Engage with the public in a friendly and professional manner while performing duties.
- Support seasonal activities such as snow removal and gritting during winter months
The Candidate:
- Knowledge and experience of environmental cleansing, horticultural or grounds maintenance work
- Experience in the operation of using powered tools, plant and equipment
- Experience of manual working in an outdoor environment
- Understanding of Health and Safety requirements
- Understanding of environmental issues
- Working in an environment where literacy and numeracy skills have been demonstrated
