JOB TITLE: LEGAL SECRETARY - EXPERIENCE IN COMMERCIAL PROPERTY or CONVEYANCING
SALARY: £24,000 - £25,500 depending on experience
HOURS OF WORK: 9am - 5.30pm Monday to Friday

A leading firm in Stockport is currently seeking a Legal Secretary for its Commercial Property team. The ideal candidate will have at least one year of experience working with partners and fee earners in a Commercial or Residential environment.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Working in a busy Commercial Property department and providing support to Fee Earners
- Typing documents using track changes, formatting, numbering and creating tables on word
- Preparation of instructions regarding various office procedures, e.g. bill preparation in SOS and Land Registry Direct.
- Proclaim case manager system and Microsoft Word or other applications, as applicable.
- Digital dictation - typing correspondence and documents - TR1, AP1, SIM, DL and CON28B forms - also CPSE1 and three enquiries, leases, collateral warranties, agreement for leases,
- licences to assign, rent deposit deeds as well landlord and tenant documentation
- Responsible for the administration of Land Registry Direct, e.g. setting up new users and managing user accounts.
- Typing bills
- Opening files and being responsible for all file closures and relevant procedures
- Multitasking and prioritising daily workload
- Providing efficient and effective secretarial support to ensure a smooth running of the Commercial Property department
- Working in a busy team environment and on your initiative
- Working under pressure to meet tight deadlines
- Dealing with telephone enquiries from clients and third parties and taking relevant messages
- Arranging meetings for the Fee Earners
- Calculating SDLT payments, dealing with HMRC, and calculating interest and penalties were relevant.
- Companies House submissions
- Registration of documents on the Land Registry portal.
- Bankruptcy searches
- Diary management - maintaining a business diary detailing client appointments (internal and external) and critical dates
- Ensure client satisfaction
- General admin tasks - filing, copying and scanning
- At all times, comply with all relevant legislation and regulations as directed by the firm (eg client confidentiality, anti-money laundering, Solicitors' Regulation Authority and The Law Society rules, Solicitors' Accounts Rules, Data Protection Act, etc)
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
- Minimum experience of 12 months within Commercial Property or Residential Property experience. However, candidates with experience in other legal will also be considered.
- Confident, clear and articulate communication skills both orally and in writing
- Well presented and appropriate to a professional business environment.
- Pleasant telephone manner, speaks clearly and fluently
- Ability to work in a planned and organised way and the ability to multitask
- Manages time effectively
- Methodical, accurate and consistent even when under workload and/or time pressures
- Adapts and fits in well, able to work independently and within a team
- Awareness of the need for confidentiality
- Experience using MS Office and Proclaim
- Professional approach
