CFO

Posted by Farrer Barnes Limited.

A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join a strongly collaborative, values-driven and dynamic trust as their new CFO. Middlesex Learning Partnership is a thriving trust of primary and secondary schools based in West London. The trust enjoys strong links to the local community, as well as a number of commercial and wider public-sector partnerships which broaden schools' offer to pupils and their families. The trust is strongly committed to diversity, inclusion and wellbeing.

An ambitious organisation, MLP is currently in positive discussion with several schools who wish to join the trust. Consequently, significant growth is expected in the coming years. As a key member of the Trust's Executive Team, you will work closely with the CEO and other senior leaders to develop and implement the financial strategy required to underpin this growth, ensuring alignment with the trust's and schools' priorities and strategic goals. Sound financial insight, clear reporting and ensuring best use of the trust's funds by appraising spend and return on investment will be key.

As CFO you will be expected to establish a ‘best in class' approach to the leadership of the finance function, running it as a highly competent and efficient service. The successful candidate will enjoy significant scope to assess and implement the most appropriate financial systems, controls and processes for the trust, providing a rare opportunity to shape the future of the finance function and to set its standing across the organisation. You will ensure appropriate financial governance and risk management arrangements are in place, that budgets are prepared and monitored appropriately, and that annual accounts are delivered in accordance with the Academy Trust Handbook, EFSA guidelines and all relevant statutory requirements.

Highly personable and professional, you will build strong working relationships with stakeholders at all levels within and beyond the organisation, including headteachers, trustees and governors. An emotionally intelligent leader, you will also provide leadership and direction to the finance team, ensuring that all team members have the opportunity to develop and to reach their full potential.

Applications are welcomed from candidates already undertaking a similarly substantive finance role with the sector, or from candidates who are fully qualified (ACCA, CIMA, ACA), who are able to demonstrate significant Education finance experience, and who are ambitious to take on their first role as CFO in a growing trust. Your personal ambition will be matched by the trust's determination to support your growth, with genuine career enhancing prospects as the trust expands. The closing date for applications is the 15th of September, with early applications encouraged, and informal conversations prior to application welcomed.
