As a temporary Cardiac Physiologist, you will:
- Perform a variety of trans-thoracic and transoesophageal echocardiographic examinations (TTEs and TEEs) independently, potentially including:
- Adult echocardiography
- Doppler studies (colour, pulsed wave, continuous wave)
- Stress echocardiography
- Contrast echocardiography (bubble studies, agitated saline)
- Optimise image acquisition and probe manipulation to ensure high-quality visualisation.
- Analyse and interpret echocardiographic findings with exceptional accuracy, identifying and describing normal and abnormal structures and functions.
- Master cardiac anatomy and physiology to accurately evaluate chamber sizes, wall thickness, valve function, and blood flow dynamics.
- Generate clear and concise reports for referring cardiologists and other healthcare professionals, highlighting key findings and diagnostic impressions.
- Communicate effectively with patients and their families, explaining procedures, findings, and implications in a compassionate and understandable manner.
- Build rapport and address patient concerns with empathy and expertise.
- Collaborate effectively with cardiologists, sonographers, and other healthcare team members to provide optimal patient care.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in clinical Physiology or a Postgraduate Certificate in echocardiography.
- Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
- At least 2 years post-graduate experience.
- 6 months recent NHS experience within the last 3 years.
- You will need to pass an enhanced background check.
