Salary: £25,000-£28,000
Location: Hertford
Contract: Permanent, full-time
Hours: Monday to Friday - 9:00-17:30pm (Hybrid available after probation)

My client in Hertford is a well-established firm within the property industry.
They are looking for a graduate or a candidate who is keen to begin a career within IT. You will be a first line support for internal staff with day-to-day IT issues and maintain IT administration tasks such as setting up new starters when joining the business.

Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of scripting/programming concepts and principles.
  • Basic knowledge of computer hardware components.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Windows.
  • Reasonable knowledge of Microsoft Office, or an equivalent office suite (e.g. Google Docs, LibreOffice, OpenOffice).
  • A keen interest in troubleshooting issues and problem solving.
  • Well-organised and able to write clear documentation on new processes/solutions.
  • Proactive approach to resolving technical issues, capable of researching problems and finding solutions within various online resources.

Desirable
Basic knowledge of some of the following areas, whether practical or theoretical:

  • Active Directory and Group Policy
  • Email security and authentication methods (e.g., SPF, DKIM, DMARC)
  • Mobile Device Management (e.g., Microsoft Endpoint Manager/InTune)
  • Microsoft Exchange
  • Microsoft SharePoint
  • Networking principles (e.g., IP addressing, subnetting, DHCP, NAT, DNS, switches, routers)
  • PowerShell, C#/.NET, Python, or other common scripting/programming languages
  • Virtualization (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V)
  • Containerization (e.g., Docker)

Responsibilities

  • Providing technical assistance to users, both in person and remotely, for both software and hardware issues.
  • Troubleshooting and maintaining computer hardware and mobile devices.
  • Assisting in the onboarding process for new users, including creating accounts, allocating hardware and licenses, and offering basic tutorials on essential software.
  • Acquiring skills in scripting to automate tasks where applicable.
  • Managing Microsoft 365 and other Microsoft cloud platforms.
  • Administering on-premises systems like Active Directory and Group Policy.
  • Performing basic upkeep of network infrastructure and cabling.
  • Participating in various business and client projects, such as data migrations, new infrastructure setups, and system implementations.
