Locum Commercial Property Solicitor – Local Authority in the East Midlands

Location: East Midlands

Hourly Rate: Dependent on experience

Working Arrangement: Part-time, with a preference for candidates able to attend the office regularly (e.g. once per fortnight), though this may be negotiable.

About the Role:

An East Midlands local authority is seeking an experienced Locum Commercial Property Solicitor to join their legal team on a part-time basis. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the Council's efforts to retain its Lexcel accreditation by maintaining up-to-date case management systems, conducting monthly file reviews, and promptly opening new files.

You may also be expected to manage team members, providing supervision, allocating work appropriately, and supporting staff well-being in line with the Council's HR policies. This role requires a proactive approach to ensuring the smooth operation of the legal team, with a preference for candidates who can attend the office on a regular basis as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Commercial Property: Manage a varies caseload of Property matters on behalf of the Council.
  • Lexcel Accreditation: Support the Council in maintaining its Lexcel accreditation by keeping case management systems current, reviewing files monthly, and promptly opening new files.
  • Team Management: Potentially manage and supervise team members, ensuring work is allocated appropriately and completed on time, while supporting staff well-being and adhering to HR policies.
  • Office Attendance: Ideally, attend the office regularly (e.g. once per fortnight) in line with work demands, such as attending meetings; however, flexibility may be offered.

About You:

  • Experience: You should be a seasoned Commercial Property Solicitor with a strong background in managing legal cases within a local authority environment.
  • Supervisory Skills: Experience in supervising legal teams, allocating work, and supporting staff is highly preferred.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to attend the office regularly, though this requirement may be negotiable depending on your circumstances and the Council's needs.
