Overview:
We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Fire Alarm Small Works/Commissioning Engineer to join our team. In this role, you'll be responsible for installing, testing, commissioning, and maintaining fire alarm systems for various small-scale projects. You'll ensure all systems meet regulatory standards and client specifications. We need someone with a strong technical background in fire alarm systems and a dedication to delivering top-notch service.

Responsibilities:

  • Install, test, and commission fire alarm systems for small-scale projects, including new installations, upgrades, and modifications.
  • Conduct site surveys to assess project requirements, identify potential issues, and propose effective solutions.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to develop project plans and timelines, ensuring adherence to budget and schedule constraints.
  • Configure fire alarm control panels, devices, and software to meet project specifications and regulatory standards.
  • Perform system programming, troubleshooting, and diagnostics to ensure optimal performance and functionality.
  • Conduct functional testing and verification of fire alarm systems to ensure compliance with regulatory codes and standards, including NFPA, local fire codes, and building regulations.
  • Provide technical support and assistance to other team members, subcontractors, and clients as needed.
  • Generate comprehensive documentation, including as-built drawings, test reports, and operation manuals, to support project completion and client handover.
  • Participate in project meetings, site inspections, and client presentations to communicate project status, address concerns, and provide technical expertise.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, advancements in fire alarm technology, and regulatory changes to ensure continued professional development and adherence to best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in the installation, testing, and commissioning of fire alarm systems, preferably in a commercial or industrial setting.
  • Proficiency in programming fire alarm control panels, devices, and software from leading manufacturers such as Notifier, Siemens, Honeywell, or Simplex.
  • Strong understanding of fire alarm codes and standards, including NFPA 72, NFPA 70 (NEC), and local building/fire codes.
  • Familiarity with testing equipment, tools, and techniques used in the inspection and maintenance of fire alarm systems.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues independently.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients, contractors, and team members.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
  • Relevant certifications such as NICET (National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies) Fire Alarm Systems Level II or higher, preferred.
