Role Description

We're seeking a full-time, on-site Accounts Assistant to join our team in Rainham. In this role, you'll play a pivotal part in providing daily assistance to the Finance Manager while also extending your financial expertise across various company departments.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Entering and accurately coding financial transactions and key data.
  • Handling the processing of financial documents such as sales and purchase invoices, as well as credit notes.
  • Managing company bank transactions, including processing payments and receipts.
  • Conducting credit control duties to ensure timely payments.
  • Reconciling and processing nominal ledger transactions, including journal entries.
  • Assisting in the preparation of VAT returns for review by the finance manager.
  • Compiling financial accounts up to trial balance.
  • Carrying out additional daily, weekly, and ad hoc duties as required by the Finance Manager and Company Directors.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Recently passed or currently studying towards a relevant accounting qualification i.e. AAT level 2/3. Or qualified by experience
  • Proven experience as an Accounts Assistant with at least two years' experience in a similar finance role
  • Previous experience with Sage50 Accounts or similar accounting package preferred
  • Knowledge of accounting terminology, rules and legislation
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office packages
