Education Finance Accountant
Slough
£400 per day (umbrella)
Full Time Contract (3 months)
Novax Recruitment is actively seeking an Education Finance Accountant in Slough. This is a contract with a scope for extension working full time hours.
The job:
- This is a BAU role overseeing processes for payments to schools, supported by a team of experienced officers, focusing on schools block payments and working with other colleagues who are responsible for early years and high needs block payments
- Manage work with Budget Managers to confirm savings proposals and capital projects assist with costing potential pressures and saving.
- Anticipate and identify key financial issues and risks affecting the business which require attention, resolve issues with Senior Managers and identify mitigating actions to ensure net expenditure is within budge
- Be an effective liaison point between the business and Government Departments to ensure completion of all statutory returns
- Manage financial modelling of new services or changes to existing services including impact from specific legislation /policy changes, assess implications for the organisation
The candidate:
- A CCAB / CIMA or equivalent qualification
- Experience of dealing with schools and accounting/reporting requirements of the Dedicated Schools Grant (DSG)
- A proven track record of analysing and providing advice and guidance on local government finance and policy issues including legislative change and horizon scanning.
