Overview:

Rochdale Council is inviting applications for a Team Manager to lead one of our Family Support and Protection Teams on a temporary basis. This crucial role is at the heart of our evolving family safeguarding model, which integrates services to provide comprehensive support for children and families from Child in Need to care proceedings. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in child protection and family support, with a proven track record of effective team leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the daily operations of a Family Support and Protection Team, ensuring high-quality service delivery that meets all statutory requirements and best practice guidelines.
  • Lead, supervise, and support a multidisciplinary team consisting of 1 Practice Manager, 1 Advanced Practitioner, 5 Social Workers, and 1 Family Support Worker, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment.
  • Coordinate with in-house drug, alcohol, and domestic abuse services to ensure integrated and targeted support for families.
  • Implement the family safeguarding way of working, adapting team strategies and practices to enhance the effectiveness of service delivery.
  • Monitor and evaluate team performance, providing regular feedback and professional development opportunities to staff.
  • Ensure all case management and documentation comply with council policies and regulatory standards.
  • Represent the team and service in multi-agency settings, advocating for resources and support as needed to meet the team's objectives.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England, with extensive managerial experience in a similar setting.
  • Strong background in child protection, family support, and care proceedings, with comprehensive knowledge of relevant legislation and guidelines.
  • Proven leadership skills, with the ability to mentor, motivate, and guide a diverse team of professionals.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building effective relationships across various services and with families.
  • Strategic thinker, with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation in service delivery.
  • Commitment to the principles of family safeguarding and the ability to implement these effectively within the team.
