Head of Payroll - Top 50 Firm - Central London

Atomic is delighted to be partnering with a highly regarded, Top 50 Accounting Firm, based in Central London, looking to recruit a Head of Payroll to join the team. The firm offer a distinctive combination of enthusiasm and expertise to their varied client base, backed by a solid history of success.

Responsibilities:

As Head of Payroll, you'll be responsible for handling a portfolio of clients, making decisions based on your knowledge and experience whilst also delivering every aspect of the payroll service. You will be a subject matter expert on payroll and the system, focused on service delivery and providing a great client experience. Responsibilities include:

  • Managing a portfolio of clients, ensuring their payrolls are fulfilled timely, accurately and securely.
  • Manage end-to-end payroll processing, including data entry, calculation of wages, submission of reports.
  • Ensure compliance with payroll regulations and company policies.
  • Calculate and process statutory deductions, including PAYE, National Insurance, and pension contributions.
  • Answering client queries about their Payroll or the systems via email and telephone.
  • Provide excellent customer service to clients and employees regarding payroll queries and issues.
  • Owning and taking responsibility for the client journey, always ensuring excellent service.
  • Maintain payroll records and employee data with the highest level of confidentiality and accuracy.
  • Reconcile payroll accounts and resolve any discrepancies or issues in a timely manner.
  • Stay updated on relevant laws, regulations, and tax requirements related to payroll and ensure compliance.
  • Keep up to date with payroll trends, product enhancements, industry developments and HR legislation.
  • Collaborate with the rest of the firm to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
  • Sharing ideas to help improve processes.

Requirements:

  • CIPP qualified or equivalent, or working at that level.
  • Previous experience in delivering fully managed payroll services.
  • Experience of running multiple payrolls to multiple deadlines throughout the month, start to finish, including RTI submissions.
  • Knowledge of pension schemes including the auto enrolment process and pension submissions to various provider platforms
  • Proficiency in payroll software and MS Office applications, especially Excel.
  • Strong understanding of payroll regulations, tax laws, and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent ability in building positive customer relationships.
  • Eager to learn and develop.
