Hays are recruiting on behalf of a Blackburn-based secondary school who require a Student Support Assistant to start in September.
The student is a male year 11 student and is wheelchair bound. They require support with catheterisation twice a day and occasionally need to be hoisted onto a bed and changed during the school day. We require somebody who is able to undertake personal care. The pupil can now catheterise himself with support needed for cleaning, dressing etc.
They have previously been supported by two members of female staff from years 7-10. Due to one of the staff leaving, there is now a need for a new Student Support Assistant.
The rest of the time would be spent supporting him or other pupils in the classroom setting.
Hoist training can be provided, but the successful candidate must be able to carry out personal cleaning.
The role is 27.5 hours per week on a 12-month contract beginning in September.
