Are you a skilled cook with experience leading a team? Our client, a well-established organisation, is seeking a Cook Supervisor to join their dynamic team at Glaze Cafe in the art gallery. This is an exciting opportunity to showcase your culinary expertise and leadership skills while working in a vibrant and creative environment.
As a Cook Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of the kitchen staff. You will actively participate in meal preparation, cooking, and serving, ensuring that all tasks are carried out efficiently and to the highest standard.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan menus to meet nutritional standards, following instructions from Catering and Cleaning Services.
Place food orders and requisition equipment as per instructions.
Maintain necessary records and comply with safety guidelines.
Ensure completion of weekly paperwork in a timely manner.
Conduct stocktaking of food and equipment.
Safeguard resources, including equipment and cash.
Adhere to hygiene regulations and health and safety guidelines.
Provide training to new staff and conduct regular tool box talks.
Conduct annual staff appraisals and address performance issues professionally.
Possess knowledge of general catering equipment (gas and electric).
Requirements:
Proven experience as a cook, preferably in a supervisory role.
Strong understanding of nutrition and menu planning.
Excellent organisational and time management skills.
Knowledge of health and safety regulations in a kitchen environment.
Ability to train and mentor staff.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Our client offers an hourly rate of £12.59, and the position is part-time with 25 hours per week. Shifts are 7.5 hours long, with alternating weekends. This is a temporary role with an anticipated start date of August 12, 2024.
Located in Springfield, Wolverhampton, the Glaze Cafe is conveniently accessible by public transportation. The office is just a 9-minute walk from Wolverhampton train station and a 6-minute walk from Wolverhampton St Georges tram station.
