This is a full time, Heathrow based role with on-site parking.

Hours : Monday - Friday, 10.30 - 19.30 with one hour lunch break.

Holidays : 20 days per annum plus Bank Holidays, increasing to 25 days per annum plus Bank Holidays after 5 years.

Salary : Starting salary of £45,000 p/a with review upon successful completion of 3 month probationary period.

Overview: Our Client is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Operations Manager to oversee and optimize the logistics operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a dynamic team, ensuring accurate and efficient shipment processing. The Operations Manager will play a crucial role in streamlining processes, enhancing efficiency, and maintaining the highest standards of service in the transportation and logistics industry.

Managing up to 25 staff, customs knowledge desirable

Duties:

  1. Team Management:
  • Lead and oversee the courier, mail, art and freight operation at the Heathrow warehouse.

  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.

  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.

  • Develop training programs to enhance team skills and knowledge.

  1. Route Optimization:
  • Liaising with the driver controller and driving team on a daily basis.

  • Collaborate with the planning team to enhance route efficiency.

  • Monitor and adjust routes to accommodate changes in demand or unexpected events.

  • Implement technology solutions to improve route planning and tracking.

  1. Driver Management:
  • Support the driver controller identifying problem routes / problem drivers.

  • Manage driver schedules to ensure operational efficiency in processing shipments.

  • Resolve issues and conflicts in a timely and effective manner.

  1. Quality Control:
  • Establish and maintain quality control measures for shipments.

  • Monitor and enforce adherence to standard operating procedures.

  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance workflows, output rates and minimising processing errors.

  1. Warehouse:
  • Oversee inventory levels and warehouse organization.

  • Maintain a safe working environment and ensure adherence to Health and Safety procedures in the warehouse.

Skills Required:

  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and team player
  • Problem solving and critical thinking

Qualifications:

  • Education to A level or equivalent as a minimum. Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, or related field preferred.
  • Proven experience in logistics and operations management.
  • Certified knowledge of import and export customs procedures and compliance.
  • Experience in liaising with relevant HMRC departments.
  • Certified knowledge of Dangerous Goods by Air, Sea and Road.
  • Forklift licence.
