Senior Waste Operations Officer

  • Hourly Rate: £19.39 PAYE / £24.14 Umbrella
  • Location: Leicestershire, LE3
  • Hours: Full time

We are seeking a Waste Operations Officer to support our team on a temporary basis. The role involves assisting the Team Manager with a variety of projects, from procurement to the management of large contracts such as recycling and treatment contracts. The successful candidate will lead the development and delivery of waste operational projects and improvements.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Monitor and forecast budgets on a weekly and monthly basis.
  • Handle customer complaints efficiently and effectively.
  • Ensure compliance with Environmental Permits, Environmental Management Systems, and associated documents such as Fire Prevention Plans and Odour Management Plans.
  • Manage Health & Safety proactively, including drafting and reviewing Risk Assessments, Method Statements, Safe Systems of Work, and Permits to Work.
  • Report incidents and conduct training related to Health & Safety.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of and commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Relevant or transferable skills and experience in managing waste sites such as Household Waste Recycling Centres and Waste Transfer Stations.
  • Experience in budget monitoring and forecasting.
  • Proficiency in handling customer complaints.
  • Good working understanding of Environmental Permits and Management Systems.
  • Proactive approach to Health & Safety Management.
  • Commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Must possess a current, valid driving licence and have access to own transport for travel to various waste sites across the County.
