The talent acquisition team at NET Recruit is partnering with a manufacturing business, who is searching for a talented and highly experienced Workshop Engineer to join the team in the Guildford area. Providing comprehensive solutions in the tool and plant hire sector, this business has seen fantastic success in past years and as such are putting plans into place to expand their presence and continue delivering the high quality products and service that their clients expect from them.

Within this scope, the position holder will have responsibility for overseeing the daily actions and operations of their Guildford site, ensuring that all items are ready to be delivered and used by clients, that necessary maintenance and repair work is undertaken and supporting the wider team with whatever is needed to meet the objectives for the site.

Your Role and Responsibilities

While in this position your duties may include but will not be limited to:

  • Overseeing the daily workshop operations to ensure everything runs smoothly and on time
  • Ensuring maintenance on tools and equipment is handled and items are inspected and repaired when required, providing support on repairs including for powered access equipment and petrol and diesel engines
  • Working towards the site KPIs individually and with the wider team
  • Conducting timely and accurate stock takes
  • Arranging transport for any equipment/part hires that are needed the next day
  • Inspecting any damage done during the off-hire stage and make sure this is charged to the customer as appropriate
  • Supervising yard and workshop staff
  • Supporting with attending breakdowns off-site when it is required to do so
  • Ensuring all paperwork for repair and servicing work is completed accurately and on time
  • Ordering spare parts via the internal purchasing system
  • Collaborating with various suppliers on warranty related work

What you will need to Apply:

Applicants must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in servicing tools and powered access equipment to be considered for this role, alongside a solid understanding of hydraulic, electrical and mechanical engineering. Supervisory experience is coveted by the business, particularly looking after a team of engineers or fitters. Excellent communication skills are also needed and desired for this role, as well as the ability to prioritise and organise your work load effectively.

What you will get in Return:

The successful candidate could receive a starting salary of up to £40,000, which will be highly dependent on previous experience and knowledge related to the industry.
