The School
An alternative provision that caters for students that are at risk of permanent exclusion from mainstream education. Staff are dedicated to ensuring pupils leave education with a plan for their future. The bespoke curriculum allows for pupils to develop socially/emotionally as well as academically.

The Role
A long-term role which is likely to become permanent for the right candidate. You will teach a class of 6-8 pupils. All pupils have self-regulations challenges, and many have experienced trauma in their younger years. A significant part of the role is offering pastoral support and teaching life skills, in addition to academic education.

Main responsibilities

  • Lesson planning and marking
  • Evaluate and adapt lessons according to individual needs
  • Act on advice from ECT mentors
  • Prepare learning resources
  • Deploy teaching assistants effectively
  • Write progress reports
  • Feedback to senior leaders and parents/carers
  • Follow the guidance of external professionals

Essential Criteria

  • QTS (Qualified Teacher Status)
  • Experience working with students SEMH needs
  • Understanding of SEND Code of Practice
  • Skills: Patience; Resilience; Flexibility

Desirable Criteria

  • SEND/Mental Health qualification(s)
