Fantastic new opportunity to the market to join our Glasgow-based Fintech client, specialising in managed Cloud provision. The business is now recruiting for a seasoned Server Infrastructure Engineer (SME), as they continue to grow their tech team from their newly opened, state-of-the-art tech hub in Glasgow.

Our client is a true Scottish success story, who support some impressive clients globally and have just raised significant funding to embark on the next phase of their journey. They have enjoyed continued growth, year on year, since they were founded and now feature on the London Stock Exchange, with over 100 staff members globally.

This is an exciting time for an experienced Server Engineer to join the business, with the opportunity to complete a diverse range of projects to improve platforms, security and user experience within the organisation. You will also be a significant contributor to the team's IT success, supporting and delivering infrastructure and solutions and working directly with data centre, network, software development and project teams alike.

The successful candidate must have the gravitas to take ownership of the role and the server environment as well as being proactive in nature. Good communication skills will be key as you engage with stakeholders and suppliers relating to server hardware, the server roadmap and be able to feed information into the wider team. You will be up to speed on the latest server models and trends and be able to present findings internally.

This role will offer the successful candidate the opportunity to become a shareholder as they shape the business through a transformational stage of its evolution, across a number of greenfield initiatives.

Skills/Experience Required

  • Deep understanding of physical severs and server environments, their makeup and how they stand together.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows and Linux Operating Systems
  • Hardware lifecycle management - stock procurement and end of life tracking
  • Engaging with the server vendors around the technology roadmap
  • Liaising with project, operational and development teams to ensure infrastructure data accuracy
  • Inventory tracking and documentation
  • Experience of sizing server infrastructure in line with internal and client requirements
  • Broad exposure to Data Centre Infrastructure Management (DCIM) tools
  • Python server automation is highly desirable
  • Financial Services experience is beneficial
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Excellent stakeholder management
