Payroll Clerk

An established accountancy practice are searching for a Payroll Clerk to join their collaborative team in Waterlooville. As Payroll Clerk, you will benefit from hybrid working and flexible working hours and the role would suit someone who enjoys going to work and having a busy day, and then leaving the job at the door to ensure a good work-life balance.

Under the guidance of the Practice Manager, you'll take ownership of completing payroll for clients on a regular basis and providing reports and support around this. This is a full-time role, but reduced hours options may be considered.

Reporting to the Practice Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Completing payroll for clients on a weekly, fortnightly, four-weekly, monthly or annual basis, from start to finish
  • Providing related reports for clients
  • Responding to client queries by email and phone
  • Completing year-end payroll procedures
  • Performing FPS and/or EPS for clients, including EPS submissions for CIS submissions
  • Calculating SMP, SSP, SPP and any other statutory payments due to employees
  • Ensuring that director tax codes are correct
  • Complying with auto enrolment requirements for clients
  • Setting up pension schemes and downloading relating information for clients
  • Producing payroll journals
  • Answering internal payroll queries

What you will need:

  • Proven experience in a similar role, such as Payroll Clerk / Payroll Manager / Senior Payroll Assistant / HR & Payroll Officer
  • End-to-end payroll experience, working on multiple payrolls
  • Experience working within an accountancy practice
  • Familiarity with Xero and/or Sage Payroll software is a plus
  • A supportive and collaborative approach
