Operations Manager
Our client, a fast-growing SME and supplier of products and services to the UK's highly regulated and non-destructive testing markets, are currently seeking an Operations Manager to join their team.
This is a full time, permanent opportunity, based in Dorchester, working Monday - Friday 08:30 - 17:00.
Applications must have a Full UK Driving Licence and access to their own vehicle.
Skills, Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in business, operations management, science, or a related field (Master's degree is a plus) or equivalent practical experience would be considered
- Proven experience in Operations/science management or a related role.
- Strong knowledge of processes, quality control, and supply chain management.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to identify and solve complex problems.
- Excellent communication and people skills.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for this role.
The Operations Manager plays a critical hands-on role in overseeing the day-to-day management of our client's sites.
Team Management:
- Lead and supervise teams, including hiring, training, and performance management.
- Foster a positive and safe work environment while promoting teamwork and collaboration.
Resource Allocation:
- Allocate resources such as workforce, equipment, and materials efficiently to optimise processes.
- Manage inventory levels to avoid shortages or overstock situations.
Quality Control:
- Implement and maintain quality control processes to ensure that products or services meet or exceed established standards.
- Address quality issues and implement corrective actions when necessary.
Process Improvement:
- Continuously identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains.
- Implement Lean or Six Sigma principles to streamline operations.
Health and Safety:
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations and company policies to maintain a safe work environment.
- Investigate and report any accidents or incidents and implement preventive measures.
Planning and Scheduling:
- Develop and implement plans and schedules to meet customer demands and organisational goals.
- Monitor progress and adjust schedules as needed to ensure on-time delivery.
This role involves managing teams, resources, and EHS. The Operations Manager is responsible for achieving targets, maintaining quality standards and driving continuous improvement in operations.
