Reed Further Education is seeking a dedicated Communication Support Worker in Cheshire to join our team for the next academic year. This role is crucial in providing deaf students with equal access to education by facilitating effective communication between students, teachers, and peers.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Work closely with deaf students in educational settings, including colleges, universities, or schools.
  • Utilise various communication methods tailored to each learner, such as British Sign Language (BSL), clear speech, and notetaking.
  • Adapt your approach to meet the student's preferences and requirements.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to adapt learning materials and ensure an inclusive classroom environment.
  • Support students during class activities, exams, and assessments.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and interventions.
  • Empower students to advocate for their needs and promote their independence and self-confidence.
  • Foster a positive and supportive atmosphere for learning.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience working with students/young adults in educational or support settings.
  • Proficiency in British Sign Language (BSL), with a minimum of Level 3 qualification.
  • A strong understanding and commitment to safeguarding practices.
  • GCSE A-C/Level 2 in English and Maths.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one.
