Pensions Calculations Developer

In WTW's Outsourcing Business, Admin Operations consists of close to one thousand colleagues providing a pension administration facility for clients of varying size across a variety of complex schemes. The workforce consists of differing seniority levels, skill mixes, team sizes and talent pools delivering diverse operational models, processes, and procedures.

Within Outsourcing Business, we are looking for a Pensions Calculations Developer with passion for technical design, development, problem solving, and ability to learn new concepts and best practices. The Pensions Calculation Developer manages technical review and development of technical solution and support for configuration and maintenance to address client requirements and deployment of global solutions for Outsourcing Technology Applications. The role focuses on technical support and development for the automation of pension calculations, letters, and reports using established software development method, technical architecture, and framework.

The Role

  • Analyses client requirements and provide inputs in planning appropriate technical solution with a focus on accuracy, build efficiency and maintainability of calculation implementation and letter configuration.
  • Delivers technical solutions for calculation automation implementation and letter configuration for new clients and enhancement support to existing clients.
  • Collaborates with several teams and developers, communicating what is required in support to what is required in the implementation.
  • Resolve technical problems encountered during development and/or post implementation, escalating only the most sensitive problems to senior team members as appropriate.
  • Develops own in-depth specialist knowledge and is a key resource across the team and organization.
  • Develops relationships with other business areas to gain a strong understanding of products and services as well as key business processes.
  • Shares best practices of coding and development with the team to encourage continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Works in line with ISO standards, TAS system, process, and quality requirements and WTW Excellence guidelines.

The Requirements

  • Ideally someone with experience in Pensions Administration having strong knowledge of technical systems and/or automated calculations.
  • Knowledge in Object Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts applied in Python.
  • Knowledgeable on DB and DC occupational pension schemes and how it translates to pension calculation and letter configuration.
  • Proven experience in developing and managing the delivery of system/software development projects in a structured environment throughout the entire lifecycle including QA.
  • Proactively identifies and leads the implementation of continuous improvement items with the support of a Technical/Team supervisor or a Manager.
  • Knowledge in Unix (Linux/AIX), Oracle, and SQL is preferred.
  • Experience on source code control systems is good to have.
  • Experience on code quality, performance, and security.
  • Strong logical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to work in a fast-paced collaborative team environment that has tight deadlines.
