Street Works Inspector

Our client based in Warrington is currently recruiting for a Street Works Inspector to join their team.

This is a full time, ongoing role offering £25 per hour Umbrella LTD.

The purpose of the role is to undertake on site inspections and activities associated with the maintenance and management of highway assets including but not exclusively roads, footways, drainage in accordance with the statutory requirements of the Highways Act and Traffic Management Act.

Responsibilities:

  • Undertake safety and serviceability inspections of assets and raise repairs as required to ensure highway related assets are maintained and inspected to appropriate standards in accordance with best practice and current legislation.
  • Assist in the liaison with the Asset Maintenance and Street works Manager and Asset Improvement and Adoptions Manager and other teams as required to ensure assets are being inspected and maintained in the best interest of the public, organisation, division and the service.
  • To provide advice and guidance to the public, councillors, contractors, utility companies and other customers as necessary on behalf of the service.
  • Undertake enforcement of illegal activities in accordance with the Highways Act, New Roads and Street works Act (TMA), Permitting and other appropriate up to date legislation as required.
  • To ensure all works carried out on the highway are to the required specification and are in compliance with all relevant legislation to safeguard users of the highway network.

Requirements:

  • Experience of inspecting the highway and associated assets to appropriate standards and legislation.
  • Ability to write technical reports and correspondence and to explain technical issues to a non-technical person.
  • Ability to work to technical specifications and research emerging legislation and technical requirements relevant to maintenance of highway assets.
  • Demonstrable organisational and planning skills to determine priorities, manage workload and manage effectively to ensure deadlines are met.
  • HNC Civil Engineering or equivalent technical discipline.
  • Knowledge and application of legislation and procedures / guidance relevant to street works activities.
