We are seeking a dedicated and motivated Cover Supervisor to this at a highly regarded secondary school in Worthing who we have been partnered with for a number of years. This role offers a unique opportunity for individuals passionate about education to gain invaluable experience within a dynamic and supportive environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing classes in the absence of the regular teacher, ensuring students continue their learning with minimal disruption.

Key Responsibilities for a Cover Supervisor:

  • Supervise students during teacher absences, ensuring continuity in learning by following the lesson plans provided.
  • Manage the classroom environment effectively, maintaining discipline and ensuring students stay focused on their work.
  • Provide support and guidance to students, assisting them with any queries related to the lesson content.
  • Ensure the safety and welfare of students, promoting a positive and respectful atmosphere.
  • Report any issues or concerns to the relevant heads of department or senior leadership team.
  • Support the school with various administrative tasks and contribute to the overall smooth running of the school day.
  • Uphold the school's values and policies, promoting high expectations for behaviour and academic achievement.

Person Specification to excel as a Cover Supervisor:

  • Previous experience in a school setting is desirable but not essential. This role is ideal for those considering a future in teaching or education.
  • A good standard of education, including GCSEs in Maths and English (Grade C or above). A degree or equivalent qualification would be advantageous.
  • Expirence as a Cover Supervisor or a Teaching Assistant (Desired)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage groups of students and maintain a calm, authoritative presence.
  • Adaptability and flexibility to respond to varying classroom dynamics.
  • Organisational skills and the ability to follow lesson plans effectively.
  • Enthusiastic, resilient, and passionate about supporting young people in their learning journey.
