Key Responsibilities for a Cover Supervisor:
- Supervise students during teacher absences, ensuring continuity in learning by following the lesson plans provided.
- Manage the classroom environment effectively, maintaining discipline and ensuring students stay focused on their work.
- Provide support and guidance to students, assisting them with any queries related to the lesson content.
- Ensure the safety and welfare of students, promoting a positive and respectful atmosphere.
- Report any issues or concerns to the relevant heads of department or senior leadership team.
- Support the school with various administrative tasks and contribute to the overall smooth running of the school day.
- Uphold the school's values and policies, promoting high expectations for behaviour and academic achievement.
Person Specification to excel as a Cover Supervisor:
- Previous experience in a school setting is desirable but not essential. This role is ideal for those considering a future in teaching or education.
- A good standard of education, including GCSEs in Maths and English (Grade C or above). A degree or equivalent qualification would be advantageous.
- Expirence as a Cover Supervisor or a Teaching Assistant (Desired)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage groups of students and maintain a calm, authoritative presence.
- Adaptability and flexibility to respond to varying classroom dynamics.
- Organisational skills and the ability to follow lesson plans effectively.
