Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Yoh! Are proud to be working with a leading supplier of electric vehicle drive systems, who are currently expanding to meet the growing demand for electric commercial vehicles!

We are seeking a talented and motivated Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, responsible for the design, construction, and production of components for electric vehicles.

Applications are invited from graduates with significant industrial experience in a mechanical design role, preferably including rotating or dynamic machines. A sound understanding of fundamental engineering principles and their practical application is essential, along with proficiency in 3D CAD systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design close tolerance machined components, castings, moulded parts, pressed metal components, shafts, bearings, seals, and component selection.
  • Build and manage complex 3D models.
  • Undertake design analysis, including lifetime and strength calculations on rotating parts and structures.
  • Provide fully documented designs.
  • Create design layouts and schematics for solutions.
  • Provide engineering support within manufacturing and to customers when needed.

Skills and Experience:

  • Degree in a mechanical engineering discipline.
  • Proficiency in 3D packaging and visualization.
  • Experience in designing rotating, dynamic, or moving machinery.
  • Strong understanding of design for manufacture, machining tolerances, and GD&T.
  • Experience in a structured quality environment and producing DFMEA documentation.
  • Ability to manage design activities to meet deadlines.
  • Proactive approach in an engineering environment.
