Procurement Leader

Job Description:

Reporting directly to the Procurement Manager or Team Leader, this role is all about building strong relationships with suppliers and other procurement leaders to make sure the requirements are fully understood and met.

Key Objectives:

  • Manage a portfolio of suppliers to ensure they meet our clients needs.
  • Analyse the impact of improvement requests on underperforming suppliers, and implement action plans based on those analyses.
  • Participate in supplier business reviews with a cross-functional team from SLS.
  • Support the Supplier Performance Quality Leader (SPQL) in rolling out SLS's supplier performance strategies and initiatives.
  • Manage internal expectations with key customers to ensure they are fully satisfied.

Key Responsibilities:

Order Book Management:

  • Analyse, process, confirm, and communicate our requirements to suppliers.
  • Review and upload schedules received from suppliers.
  • Suggest and support solutions in case of shortages.
  • Negotiate deadlines and quantities with suppliers.
  • Oversee manufacturing progress at the supplier's site, including capacity and critical materials/components.
  • Monitor supplier capacity and manage supply transport.
  • Handle delivery receipts and the flow of returns to suppliers.
  • Participate in Line of Balance (LoB) reviews.

Other Key Responsibilities:

  • Reconcile performance with suppliers throughout the month.
  • Measure and analyse supplier performance with the SPQL and set up action plans if targets aren't being met.
  • Escalate issues to the SPQL or Commodity Program Manager (CPM) to facilitate decision-making with other functions.
  • Identify and resolve root causes of problems.
  • Provide warnings in case of supplier risk.
  • Communicate major program changes to suppliers and monitor their implementation.
  • Work closely with Purchasing, the Supplier Performance Quality Manager (SPQM), and the CPM to manage supplier relationships and risks.
  • Implement recovery plans that align with program priorities.

Requirements:

  • Solid understanding of ERP systems and MRP2 principles, especially in SAP.
  • Experience in the aerospace industry is a plus.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical abilities.
  • Good decision-making skills.
  • Effective problem-solving skills.
  • Strong negotiating and influencing abilities.
  • Good business understanding.
  • Commercially aware and savvy.
