Senior Network and VOIP Engineer is required for an established and growing business in the heart of Bournemouth, Dorset.
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Network and VOIP Engineer to join our client's dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in VOIP technology, computer networking, and telephony systems, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain high-quality VOIP and network solutions.
- Deploy, configure, and support telephony hardware (IP phones, ATA, headsets, DECT, access control systems).
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in VOIP technology and computer networking
- In-depth knowledge of VOIP technology and terminology
- Understanding of SIP and RTP/RTCP protocols, including SIP trunking
- In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, and other fundamental networking principles
- Expertise in subnetting, routing, and switching
- Understanding of firewall and security configuration and administration
- Proficient in network diagnostic tools (Wireshark, ARP tables, data monitoring tools)
- Knowledgeable in Wi-Fi technologies (APs, mesh networks, frequencies, security)
- Familiar with deploying, configuring, and supporting network hardware (routers, switches, cabling infrastructure, comms racks)
- Understanding of broadband connectivity options (FTTC, FTTP, Ethernet, satellite)
- Skilled in broadband diagnostics and monitoring (SNR, latency, packet loss)
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
- Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins).
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
Additional Information
Working hours: Fully office based, 37.5hrs per week and should be 8.30 - 5pm or 9 - 5.30pm with an hour for lunch.
