Our client is a leading payroll consultancy firm based just to the North of St Albans. They provide exceptional weekly and monthly payroll services including PAYE, CIS, and umbrella company payrolls to a large portfolio of clients across various industries. With a focus on accurate, compliant, and customer-centric payroll solutions, they have earned a reputation for reliability and excellence in the region.

We are currently seeking a talented Senior Payroll Officer to oversee the vital operations that facilitate seamless payroll processing for our client's diverse customer base. In this client-facing role, you will lead a team responsible for new starter processing, high-volume data entry, and addressing customer payroll queries related to taxation, compliance, and more.

Senior Payroll Officer Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the day-to-day activities of the payroll support services team
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of new employee setups and data updates
  • Oversee high-volume data entry tasks related to payroll adjustments, starters/leavers etc.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for client payroll queries across areas like PAYE, tax, compliance
  • Provide expert guidance to clients on payroll-related matters, ensuring compliant practices
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payroll legislation and implement process improvements
  • Collaborate with payroll processing teams to streamline operations and enhance customer service

Requirements and Experience:

  • Proven experience in a payroll services or payroll customer support role
  • Strong understanding of UK payroll legislation including PAYE, NIC, SMP, SPP etc.
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to build positive client relationships
  • Confident in explaining complex payroll/tax matters to internal and external stakeholders
  • Proficiency in payroll software
  • Excellent organiSational, multitasking and problem-solving abilities
