We are seeking a dedicated Pensions Specialist to join our client's Human Resources team supporting the Pensions Manager in the Transport & Distribution industry.

Description

  • Organise all DB Scheme Trustee, Sub-Committee, and DC Governance Committee meetings, including preparing and distributing papers, taking minutes, and maintaining action logs.
  • Record meeting discussions and resolutions, manage follow-ups with external advisers, and maintain governance documents (Risk Registers, Business Plans, Trustee Timetables, Training/Conflicts Logs).
  • Support the Pensions Manager in overseeing third-party administration for DB and DC plans, ensuring service standards are met and addressing SLA issues.
  • Coordinate with the Investment Adviser to onboard new investment managers, handling documentation and signatures.
  • Assist with DB Scheme financial and statutory reporting in collaboration with the Scheme Auditor and third-party administrator.
  • Develop and manage annual Member Nominated Director elections and draft member communications for both DB and DC schemes, including newsletters and policy updates.
  • Act as the key contact for internal stakeholders on pensions-related operations, internal audits, and process queries.
  • Support DB Scheme projects (e.g., GMP Equalisation, legislative changes, member website development) and contribute to ad hoc internal projects as needed.
  • Build internal and external networks to provide insights on pensions, informed by market trends, technical knowledge, and legislative developments.

Profile

A successful Pensions Specialist should have:

  • Proven experience in pension administration and management.
  • In depth detailed knowledge of UK pensions legislation, regulatory requirements and developments for Defined Benefit and Defined Contribution pension arrangements.
  • Already holding, or progressing to hold, a professional qualification from the Pensions Management Institute.
  • Excellent analytical and numerical skills.
  • Outstanding communication skills to deliver complex information in an understandable way.
  • High attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
