Composite Technician

  • Job Type: 6-month Fixed Term Contract - Full-time, 40 hours per week; 0730-1630hrs Mon-Thu; 0730-1330hrs Fri

  • Salary: £30-32,000 per annum

We are seeking a skilled Composite Technician to join our client. This role involves the manufacturing of composite components using various hand-building processes and equipment, ensuring compliance with health and safety and quality standards. The ideal candidate will have experience in pattern building, lamination, prepreg processes, infusion, and RTM.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Comply with health and safety policies and quality management procedures.
  • Manufacture complex composite products, including interpreting engineering drawings, mould preparation, mixing resin systems, and cutting various fibre materials.
  • Perform vacuum bagging, resin infusion and injection, and monitor process parameters such as temperature, time, and pressure.
  • Remove products from moulds, and perform trimming, cleaning, and oven set-up.
  • Use hand and power tools for various operations, ensuring the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Operate equipment such as CNC Ply Cutter, 3 Axis Router, and Fork Lift Truck, following provided training.
  • Identify and solve problems proactively to optimize manufacturing efficiency and technical solutions.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and tidiness of the facility to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Complete timesheets promptly to track projects and progress.
  • Utilize general computer literacy skills to navigate and use software programs like Excel and Word.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Level 3 qualification in an engineering discipline or proven experience in composite manufacturing using prepreg and dry fibres.
  • Strong ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow detailed instructions and procedures.
  • Proactive problem-solving skills with a focus on efficiency and technical improvements.
