Full-time, Permanent - Pay: £32,000.00-£35,000.00 per annum

Main Purpose of the Job:

Reporting to the Head of Finance, the main purpose of the role is to support the overall day-to-day running of the Finance department, ensuring a seamless operation is executed.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Take ownership of all aspects of Purchase Ledger transactions using Merlin
  • Setting up new suppliers.
  • Posting supplier invoices
  • Raising and making supplier payments through BACS
  • Posting and reconciliation of staff expenses
  • Vat reconciliation and quarterly submission
  • Bank reconciliation
  • Balance sheet reconciliation
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts
  • Ability to interpret, challenge and analyse variances in the management accounts
  • Posting accruals and prepayment journals
  • Close monthly and yearly nominal ledgers
  • Assist in preparation of annual budgets
  • Collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders to drive best practices and process efficiencies
  • Promote and drive strong relationships with the purchasing team as well as the rest of the business
  • Recommend operational improvements.
  • Delivering accurate month-end reporting across 4 legal entities.
  • Assist in month-end analysis and commentary,
  • Maintain financial control ensuring compliance.

Person Specification:

  • Experience in a similar role
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Evidence of building and maintaining strong relationships with key business stakeholders
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office particularly Excel
  • Experience of using Merlin or similar applications
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Other Ad-Hoc as deemed necessary

Qualifications:

  • AAT or equivalent
  • Qualified by experience
  • No-longer studying

Working Conditions:

  • Office based role Monday – Friday
  • 9am – 5pm with 30 minutes lunchbreak.
  • Monthly close outside normal office hours are a standard requirement in this role (this activity is not eligible for overtime)
