This is an exciting opportunity for a buyer to join a growing business within the food and catering industry. As a Buyer, you will be responsible for driving the commercial performance of your assigned category across all formats. This role involves managing a complex category, requiring you to have strong commercial experience. You will be the key decision-maker, empowered with the autonomy to execute your category strategy.

In this fast-paced procurement team, you will play a critical role in sourcing goods and services to support educational institutions, as well as the social and hospitality sectors. Your responsibilities will include evaluating and selecting suppliers, negotiating terms and prices to ensure cost-effectiveness and quality, and collaborating with both internal and external stakeholders to meet the specific needs of the organisation.

Key Responsibilities as a Buyer:

  • Develop and deliver a strategic procurement plan for your specific category.
  • Evaluate and select suppliers based on quality, price, and reliability.
  • Negotiate contracts and pricing to ensure value for money.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand requirements and source suitable products.
  • Monitor market trends, regulations, and innovations to make informed purchasing decisions.
  • Ensure compliance,e with sustainability goals, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.

Skills and Qualifications required as a Buyer :

  • Strong commercial and procurement experience.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple stakeholders.
  • Proficient in procurement systems and data analytics tools.
  • Strategic thinking with a focus on cost-saving, compliance, and long-term value.
  • Strong organisational skills, with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
