Reed Property & Construction are currently working with a family ran surfacing and groundworks contractor based near Oldbury with a dynamic, progressive and supportive company culture.
We are currently recruiting for an experience Quantity Surveyor with experience in groundworks to join this business in a role that will add value.
This business is very strong on the surfacing side and are looking to growth the groundworks side of the business.
This role will QS for both surfacing and groundworks. So we need a candidate who has specifically groundworks experience but is happy to work on both sides of the business.
You will be instrumental in managing projects ranging in value from £500k to £5M. Reporting to the Commercial Manager, you will provide essential commercial support, ensuring the successful delivery of contracts by working closely with operational managers and subcontractors. These contracts can be both public and private sector
Salary on offer: Circa £50,000 per annum

Day to Day of the Role:
- Manage commercial aspects and contract administration of projects, including reviewing customer contract terms and conditions.
- Lead or support the production of budgets, forecasts, and monthly Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs).
- Prepare monthly valuation applications and final accounts.
- Assist Project Managers with cost management and tracking processes.
- Assess additional time and costs for contract variations and understand contractual implications.
- Resolve disputes and attend customer meetings to support operational staff.
- Conduct project progress reviews and report findings to the Commercial Manager.
- Assist with tendering large projects and implementing commercial reporting systems.
- Participate in post-contract analysis, suggesting process improvements.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Degree in Quantity Surveying or HNC/HND in Civil or Mechanical Engineering with QS experience.
- Knowledge and experience in the utilities/civil sector, preferably in the water industry.
- Ability to persuade, influence, and negotiate effectively.
- Full driving licence.
