Procurement and Inventory Manager

This Procurement and Inventory Manager role is pivotal for driving processes, within a manufacturing and distribution environment. The ideal candidate will have a knack for system efficiency, cost reduction, and strengthening vendor relationships.

Client Details

My client is a leading global player in the industrial manufacturing sector, servicing the ever-growing logistics industry. With a UK and global presence, they are renowned for their high-quality products and innovative manufacturing processes.

Description

  • Managing and controlling all the company's external suppliers, handling negotiations, and driving for cost reductions, terms and working capital improvements
  • Responsibility for site wide inventory and stock turns targets, working in close collaboration with Production, Engineering, and Controls
  • Close collaboration with product development and taking lead in all purchase and supply chain activities to drive best in class solutions
  • Ensure all MRP generated requisitions are actioned in a timely manner to ensure selected suppliers can deliver on time to meet the production program.
  • Establish strategic relationships with key suppliers who are aligned to the business's needs, and identify new suppliers, agree improved terms, and negotiate supply agreements / contracts
  • Continually improve purchasing methods through supplier visits, value analysis, and drive down external spend
  • Understanding and keeping up with new trends and regulations
  • Analyse inventories to determine how to increase inventory turns and reduce waste

Profile

  • Degree or equivalent - CIPS advantageous
  • Minimum 5 years previous experience in a Procurement role, gained within manufacturing
  • Leadership experience (ideally across both procurement and stores/inventory)
  • Proven ability in ER/MRP (Sage X3 advantageous)
  • Proven track record of controlling and reducing external spend and stockholding whilst developing a robust supplier base
  • Proven track record of driving change, cost reduction and working capital improvements
  • EMEA and APAC purchasing experience would be ideal but is not essential
  • Experience in working for a Global PE Business would be ideal but is not essential
